Silk Spider #3: Welcome to Murder World

December 31; 4:34pm The screen blips and rolls into static. A dark figure in the control room, pounds his fist on the console and the image on the monitor corrects itself. Robotic drones relay the scene as it unfolds. The police surround a house, 739 Winter Garden Drive, Forrest Hills, Queens, New York. They peel away an envelope taped to the front door of the house. It says two words, “ Silk Spider ” in thick black ink and it has the police in a confused flurry. The police don’t open it because they don’t know if it’s a message or a threat, because the house belongs to Captain George Stacy, head of the NYPD’s super villain task force. What the police don’t know is that Captain Stacy’s teenage daughter, Gwen, is also the costumed hero, Silk Spider. The drones buzz overhead unnoticed. Gwen notices the commotion and rushes to the door, where the officers tell her dismissively to shut the door and stay inside. She spots the envelope and asks what’s happening but they con...

X-Men #11: Danger Room Practice Run

The following is a summary of information taken from the FBI’s interviews of the staff and students at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, as told by Special Agent Jacob Farber. Havok... X-Men field leader. He said, “Why don’t we have the Danger Room put us through a scenario where we fight the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants? That way we’re more prepared for what’s to come.” The X-Men had just learned that for much of their time at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, their Headmaster, Charles Xavier, was not Charles Xavier at all, but an impostor. He was a mutant called Mastermind, an illusion caster with a sick mind and a nasty sadistic streak. Somehow, Mastermind got close to the X-Men. He lived with them. Traveled with them. Disguised as Professor Xavier, he took them to Santo Marco to remove the mutant terrorist, Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants from power. According to the school’s cook, the professor as imitated by the Mastermind, often displayed suspi...

X-Men #10: Meet Silk Spider

Marvel Girl and Mystique came in from the grounds of Xavier’s mansion with a guest, a strange man in a black butterfly mask, red cape and hood.  It was Wolverine that noticed the scent of ozone, blood, and fear on the man. They’d been in a fight, on the property and this man, a mutant, was what they came back with. Jean had received a strange psychic signal that alerted her to noticed four unknowns wandering the property. She hadn’t heard them. She hadn’t seen them. But she knew they were there. Three fugitives, escaped from the super-powered detention center in New York City and the teenage super-hero that was hunting them.  The fugitives were Crossbones, with whom Marvel Girl was already familiar; The Vulture an octogenarian super-powered bank robber; and the media famous, Vanisher. The hero was the Silk Spider, a new NYC based crime fighter, with arachnid abilities.  Marvel Girl, Mystique, and Silk Spider fought the villains in the wooded area to the north of the ...

X-Men #9 Graduation Day, Hope You Survive the Experience

My name is Hank McCoy. I am was a student at the Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. My father, Norton McCoy was their mathematics professor. Recently, I got to accompany the famous X-Men on a mission to the island nation of Santo Marco. My father disapproved and immediately turned in his resignation and my transfer papers to the Massachusetts Academy. For a moment, I was an X-Man. After leaving the school, I don’t think I’ll keep the moniker that Scott Summers gave me the first time he saw me without my shoes. I think Beast is more fitting. Besides, I am almost certain that Sasquatch is already taken. I felt melancholy like never before, as I packed my bags for Massachusetts and watched my new friends head into the Danger Room to test for their diplomas. To know that I will not be one of them, hurts me more than I could have imagined. In the test, a missile came through the ceiling. It didn’t detonate but it did have a timer. Cyclops worked diligently to ...

Silk Spider #2 The Vanisher

Memorial Park, Washington DC… The people of this city had been held captive by their own fear, while the mutant terrorist The Vanisher threatened their very livelihoods. That is until Silk Spider swung into action and saved the day. Surrounded by a gang of thugs, The Vanisher showed off the brown suitcase containing government defense secrets, that he had just stolen, bragging that he’d sell it to the highest bidder. This reporter has never seen such proficiency, when it comes to hand to hand combat, as that of the new costumed hero dubbed the Silk Spider. This is a hero for Washington DC if we’ve ever seen one. She launched her web missiles. She threw her super strong punches. And even though bullets were fired, the Silk Spider ensured safety for all. In no time, the villains were captured, bound with her webs and handed over to Captain George Stacey of the special Anti-Mutant Squad based in New York City. Washington DC has never felt so loved and so safe. Than...

X-Men #8 The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants

Dr. Norton McCoy stood before the Xavier’s School’s senior staff and senior student body, the X-Men, with a mixture of rage and confusion on his face. Wolverine leaned against a cabinet in the back of the science lab, his cigar clenched between his teeth. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, and Havok sat in classroom desks in the front of the lab and Mystique perched on a counter against the west facing windows. Charles Xavier, himself, and the mutant robot called Jim were absent, which was McCoy’s intent. “You probably know by now that I am not a happy camper.” McCoy paced and rolled the sleeves of his yellow button up around his forearms. He motioned with his right hand. “Please, nobody say a word until I’m done talking. Now, I know that Professor Xavier is recuperating after his accident on Santo Marco. I have questions about what went on there, mostly because he allowed my son, Henry to accompany you all into a mutant war zone. But also, I have questions because the doctor who ha...

X-Men #7: The Master of Black Magick

I’m not sure I like superheroes. They look larger than life. They dress in clothes that make them larger than life. They act larger than life, which is a good indicator of clinical narcissism, and I should know. I’m Doctor Strange, Master of Black Magic and there are few people as narcissistic as I am. When the Fantastic Four came to my mystic domain; my Sanctum Sanctorum, I had a feeling there was a bull in the china shop, but I thought it would be the big rocky guy and not the young brother and of Susan Storm. He came into my “castle” with a Yoo Hoo. That Yoo Hoo, by the way, ended up all over the pages of the Darkhold, the most evil book in existence. If Shuma Gorath shows up with a chocolate milk mustache, I’ll never forgive that boy. So of course, when the X-Men showed up and I didn’t know what to expect, I was a little guarded. They were great, though. They were polite, respectful, genuinely humble, and they weren’t at all what I expected from superheroes. The b...
